The convention centre hosted an Australian event for the first time on behalf of Capricorn. The society chose the resort as the location for the its biannual Convention made by its Members and partners, over 700 attendees from Australia and New Zealand who stayed for a week at Hotel PortAventura, enjoying exclusive spaces and carrying out interesting presentations, excursions and activities in the surrounding areas.

Capricorn, Australasia’s largest automotive cooperative with over 17,000 members and more than 1,800 suppliers, chose the PortAventura World as the location for its biannual Convention. Under the name of Spain Capricorn Convention, over 700 Delegates – all of them Members and partners – enjoyed the resort facilities and became acquainted with the surrounding areas thanks to an organised programme of stimulating activities.

The programme included sports such as golf, and leisure options such as excursions on the Costa Daurada -with a visit to Tarragona and Barcelona, including highlights such as Monserrat and the Barcelona Shopping Tour, amongst others. Attendees also had the opportunity to share moments of conviviality and fun in PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land throughout their stay.

At PortAventura Convention Centre, there were some very interesting talks. Matt Church, an expert motivational speaker and director of leader development programmes, led one of these workshops in the Damascus room of the PortAventura Convention Centre.

In the words of Dale Durden, Head of Sales at Capricorn, “This is the first time that we have held this event in Europe, after having held previous editions in countries such as Canada, Mexico and Abu Dhabi. It was very gratifying for us to be in Spain”.

In this sense, “having a space like PortAventura Convention Centre, accessible and well-connected with the main infrastructures is crucial for an event. Its location, close to the beach and places of cultural interest, complement its spaciousness and equipment to accommodate 705 people in its facilities and its capacity to host any type of activity, given its versatility” said David Fraser, Capricorn Automotive CEO.

During their time at the resort, the participants stayed at Hotel PortAventura and were allocated exclusive areas for the evening parties, such as one of the hotel’s swimming pools and several catering areas, which were customised for the event. One of the dinners took place at the Lumine Beach Club’s Volcano Lounge, located a few minutes from the PortAventura Convention Centre, featuring a sand pool with an artificial beach and a chill-out area overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. In turn, PortAventura Park’s La Cantina restaurant, reserved exclusively for the event, hosted a gala dinner for over 700 guests with a private show.
