Amplifon, a global company with over 65 years of experience in hearing solutions, recently brought together 520 employees from Spain and Portugal for its ‘annual Kick Off’, where last year’s results and this year’s objectives were presented.
For the plenary meeting at the PortAventura Convention Centre HD audiovisual equipment was installed for the simultaneous screening of presentations in two languages. The rest of the centre’s meeting rooms were built by modular walls to form 11 rooms on the same floor for breakout sessions in which the firm’s new products, suppliers and annual results were presented.
During the three-day event, Amplifon’s employees were accommodated at the Gold River Hotel with direct access to PortAventura Park. The participants were treated to a western-themed welcome dinner with entertainment in one of PortAventura Park’s areas, and on the second day, the China and Far-West areas, featuring the park’s star attractions, were opened exclusively for them. In the evening, a gala dinner was held at the restaurant La Cantina, which included a performance by Rock the Night with a tribute to rock music of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

After 20 years, the Special Olympic Games has returned to Reus in collaboration with PortAventura World which participated in the organization of the games and contributed to their success; an edition that has marked a turning point in their history, according to the organizing committee.
Held at the Gran Teatro Imperial of PortAventura Park’s China theme area on 25 November, the opening ceremony included a welcome speech delivered by Arturo Mas-Sardà, Chairman of the Board of PortAventura World. Following this, the traditional parade of the delegations participating at the games took place, after which the official Special Olympics flag was presented and the torch was lit. Finally, the spectators were treated to a Christmas show at the Gran Teatro.
The ceremony was also attended by Carles Pellicer, Major of Reus, and Miguel Sagarra, President of Special Olympics Spain, who enjoyed a magical evening along with the rest of the guests. During the ceremony emphasis was placed on promoting a world without frontiers or flags, where the athletes took centre stage.
After the opening ceremony, a party was held at PortAventura World’s El Paso Hotel, where the delegation members stayed during the Special Olympic Games.
PortAventura Business & Events handled logistics, including welcoming and accommodating the 800 athletes from all over Spain and another 18 countries, together with 200 trainers, 400 voluntary workers, 100 voluntary medical staff and members of the organization, for the 2016 Special Olympic Games Spain, the most important sports event in the world for people with intellectual disabilities.
From 13th to 16th October, a new edition of the 52 RallyRACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada (Rally de España 2016) was held. The event is a perfect promotional and economic platform for the Costa Daurada, with thousands of fans at each of the 19 race stages in the only rally in the world with a track covering both gravel and asphalt, and for which PortAventura Business & Events collaborated for the 12th consecutive year.
All the logistics and organisation for the race took place at PortAventura Convention Centre. On the first floor, the multifunctional Sala Barcino was set up for news reporters and media professionals, as well as the Sala Harvard for press conferences. The Sala Damascus was used as the main offices for the race’s management team.
In addition, the organisers along with a large number of drivers and the championship team stayed in Hotel Caribe at PortAventura World, which is located just a few minutes’ walk from the Convention Centre. As well as this, one of PortAventura World’s car parks, located next to the soon-to-open Ferrari Land, became the site of the Service Park where all the participating motor-racing teams were based.

French team Sébastien Ogier– Julien Ingrassia (Volkswagen Polo R WRC) took to the podium as the winners of the 52 RallyRACC, a victory which represents their fourth consecutive world championship title. In second position on the podium were Dani Sordo– Marc Martí (Hyundai i20 WRC), and in third were Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul (Hyundai i20 WRC).
The event was attended by 800 people who excitedly welcomed the presentation of the company’s “Confidence becomes you” commitment which allows Tupperware to be “helping hand” when women are busy being their best. Also at Jubilee, The latest brand and catalogs from the 2016 and 2017 autumn and winter seasons were shared with the help of famous chef Julio Fernandez Quintero, holder of a Michelin star, a ccooking show was developed to showcase different recipes using the new Micro Urban. This compact product is for cooking in the microwave, and is the perfect product for all generations, especially millennials.
The Convention included: a welcome gala dinner, product launches, and a celebration to recognize the well done work of the sales force. All events were held in the great Sala Alexandria of the Convention Center of PortAventura, which enabled setting a spectacular scenery for Tupperware. The choice for the dinner of the second night consisted in the exclusive area of Mexico and its restaurant La Cantina of PortAventura Park, a large space that allows dinners for events with this magnitude. The event ended with an award ceremony, a contest of costumes and a special show.

Ostentando el primer puesto como la montaña rusa más alta (76 metros), la más rápida (134km/h) y con la caída más larga de toda Europa con sus más de 78 metros. Otorgándole a “Shambala” el ‘European Star Awards 2015’ en la Última edición de entrega de premios por la revista Kirmers & Park Revue.
En la 5ª entrega de premios de WorldofParks Awards participaron alrededor de 35.000 lectores que a través de un cuestionario no dudaron en situar el Resort en el primer puesto de su lista de preferencias. Convirtiendo por cuarto año consecutivo a PortAventura como referente europeo.

“Somriu per la infància” es el lema con que la FEDAIA celebrará un día por la infancia en PortAventura Park. Un día donde los protagonistas son los niños y jóvenes en situación de desamparo o riesgo de exclusión social. La sonrisa es el elemento de unión de esta fiesta puesto que iguala a todos los niños, más allá de su situación social o económica.
Las personas que quieran colaborar con este evento podrán adquirir entradas limitadas por sólo 18€ a través de Ticketmaster (las entradas sólo serán válidas para el día 18 de abril). Parte de la recaudación se destinará a los programas que impulsa la FEDAIA para favorecer la igualdad de oportunidades entre los niños más vulnerables.

The hotel chain ‘Room Mate Hotels’ held a Team Building day in PortAventura Park. The PortAventura Convention Centre was the meeting point for all participants.
Antonio Llorente, former basketball player for Real Madrid, with a career spanning over 20 years and director of Gold Events, organised a gymkhana team event at PortAventura under the slogan ‘Live your own adventure‘; a competition that sought to encourage attendee participation through various trials.
At the start of the event, teams assembled in the Harvard Room of the Convention Centre in preparation for the team building activities.
The more daring amongst them tackled PortAventura Park’s five theme areas to test their personal, organisational, coordination and, above all, teamwork, skills. Participants had to collect as many points as possible in over 2 hours of the activity.
The association organises many activities such as hiking, sports, music, but how did the idea of an event as intimate as the day for Fent Amics amb Down Catalunya at PortAventura come about?
The idea was put forward in a board meeting in 2008, following a proposal from our organisation in Tarragona, Down Tarragona. Our colleagues were aware that the park was holding an event for another organisation and we liked the idea very much. We thought we could do target the whole of Catalonia and raise awareness amongst the general public. In principle, the main aim was to circulate information and raise awareness.
After several editions (this year was the fifth) we consider it vital that the event allows us to create a space where families throughout Catalonia can come together and have fun in an inclusive and participative environment. It is also the perfect occasion to project an image of people with Down’s syndrome that breaks existing stereotypes, enabling them to be part of society with equal opportunities.
The day of “Vine a PortAventura amb Down Catalunya”, which you use to collect aid for various associations and organisations working with people with Down’s syndrome, has been held for five years now. What aspects did you bear in mind to choose PortAventura as the location for your event?
Having a place like PortAventura close by made the decision easier. But in particular we evaluated the capacity of the park, its wide range of attractions and shows on offer to our families, the opportunity to participate depending on the individual interests and capabilities of each participant, and, above all, the treatment we received right from the start from the managers of PortAventura Business & Events and the PortAventura Foundation who welcomed us with great warmth, helpfulness, interest … and really made us feel at home.
The rapport between presenters Marta Romero and Meritxell Bueno was clear to see by everyone attending the occasion, what made you think of them to host this event?
The actress Marta Romero had recorded a film this summer together with a young girl from Down Lleida (Meritxell Well, the other presenter!). For this reason and also due to having a cousin with Down’s syndrome, she felt close to our cause and our philosophy and had said that she wanted to help and work with us very closely.
As the two already knew each other it was very easy to propose the idea of a joint presentation. This presentation by two people with different skills, which we have been performing regularly at our events, is very close to our philosophy of inclusion and equal opportunities for all.
The relationship that they have with each other has shown us that an inclusive society is possible if we are willing to accept it.
The dance routines prepared by the dance group Chrysali’d 22 were a lovely surprise, but if you had to choose a number one magical moment from the event Fent Amics en PortAventura, what would it be?
I think it would have to be last year’s performance of Mamma Mia! Where boys and girls with diverse abilities danced together in a spectacular demonstration filled with colour and joy. Although we also cannot forget the joint performances by Els Cracs d’Andi and the signer Pep Sala. The truth is that every year we are astounded, showing that all involved have many skills to offer their audience.
And of course, the exclusive show that PortAventura offers every year amazes us even more than the last. Every spectator can enjoy it and wait eagerly for the surprises of the next one to come!
On a day like this, it goes without saying that thanks should to the volunteers of any association for their hard work, whatever the cause. However, what are the characteristics that Down Catalunya looks for in its volunteers?
The characteristics we look for in a volunteer is someone that values a person for their abilities rather than their disabilities, but also has at the forefront of their mind devotion, respect for people and dedication. For the PortAventura event, patience is of great importance because there are so many families and sometimes it is not easy to meet their needs.
In general, for any kind of volunteering I think the person needs a sense of involvement, respect for everyone, a cheerful disposition, commitment, willingness to learn together … and above all the desire to be a volunteer .
For the fifth consecutive year, PortAventura Business & Events together with PortAventura Park will host one of the most important charity events of the year: “Vine a PortAventura amb Down Catalunya”. This socially responsible event will be held Saturday 5th October 2013 and tickets are available to the general public for the price of only 18 Euros. One of the main objectives for the day is to sell as many tickets as possible, surpassing the 5000 people who attended previous editions. The money collected will be used to cover event costs and the remaining proceeds will be handed over to Down Catalunya and its related organisations.
Down’s Syndrome Coordinator for Catalonia was founded in 2004 with the aim of helping and working for the future of people with intellectual disabilities, especially those who have Down’s Syndrome. To do this, several associations and foundations formed a joint platform that could work more effectively to improve the quality of life of people with this syndrome in Catalonia by promoting innovative and sustainable intervention and training projects and supporting research and social awareness. Their values are “Commitment” to those affected and their families, “Self-Determination and Independence” of people with Down’s syndrome, the attainment of “Equal Opportunities” and the “Efficiency” of results through networking to ensure mutual learning and enrichment of professionals’ skills.
